Ryan not Bryan, Ryan Adams the heart of hip alt-country

Ryan Adams, is another one of those musicians I stumbled across, after aimlessly flipping through the pop section. I saw his name behind that of Bryan Adams and the fate of my taste in music was sealed.

It was after 9/11 and the  great controversy caused by his music video showing the twin towers, that he was lodged firmly into my consciousness. He (cleverly) dedicated the music video to the city of New York and those who died that day. (Causing it to be shown often.)

Ryan Adams, is the kind of recording artist that even if you don’t know him or his music well. You’d be able to recognize some of his music, as so many of his songs has been used in the soundtracks of movies and television.

He started his career off in a country band aptly called Whiskeytown, but has released about 10 or 13 (who knows) solo albums so far. He  has also released some material with The Cardinals.

Singing mostly hard-down-on-my-luck songs in a raspy world weary voice that ranges from a soft whisper to a screech. A lover lost to an uncaring world.
