An ode to oumabroeks (on getting your panties in a twist)

To some they are known as control top panties, to others they are magnificent stomach in-suckers, while a few might remember them as the big knickers which made infamous by that scene in Bridget Jones’ Diary.

To me they are simply ouma broeks, the underwear known for its generous helping of beige fabric and stomach squashing abilities…

They say that some lessons are learnt the hard way and mine even more so! Last week, during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Joburg I won the most beautiful Leigh Schubert design and eventhough it was tight and satin I did not wear said undergarment.

Thus the fashion rule should always be… when wearing a tight satin garment thou shalt always wear a stomach-flattening ouma broeks like garment. I rest my case.

‘Til next time friends!

  1. Excellent lesson to learn! They are revolting to look at, but an absolute winner in getting a dress to fall beautifully.
